OUR IMPACT

Since its founding in 1961, San Francisco Cinematheque has presented nearly 5,000 film and video screenings, featuring tens of thousands of works of avant-garde and experimental cinema. Through screenings, publications, and archives, Cinematheque has helped establish the Bay Area as a major international center for artist-made film.
In 2025, we presented 45 screenings and events, reached over 3,000 viewers, welcomed filmmakers from around the world, and continued expanding our physical and digital archives—furthering our long-standing commitment to artists and audiences.

LOOKING AHEAD

Thanks to the generosity of our community, Cinematheque’s programming operations and staff are secure for 2026. This support allows us to continue presenting screenings, caring for our archives, and supporting artists while pursuing long-term funding strategies.
Ongoing support remain essential to sustaining this work. Contributions directly support our programs, archives, and small staff, helping ensure that Cinematheque remains responsive, resilient, and artist-centered.
